Geoffrey Adams
I started my career in the construction industry aged 11 when I first picked up a (mechanical) pencil at secondary school and started technical drawing, inspired by my grandfather, also a chartered surveyor and fellow of the RICS. After a few twists and turns working with development teams across Europe and the US, I found myself back at university studying building surveying, becoming a Member in 2006 and a Fellow of the RICS in 2024. I am passionate about guiding the next generation of surveyors, lead the internal training programme at Anstey Horne, chair the Sussex branch of the Pyramus & Thisbe Society, a learned society “dedicated to improving the administration of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 through education and discussion”, where I also chair the working party updating the guidance notes giving best practice for members. I regularly speak and chair events on party wall and related matters for the RICS, Pyramus & Thisbe Society and universities as well as a range of architectural, engineering and project management firms.
I am a Senior Director at Anstey Horne specialising in party walls and related neighbourly matters, and have advised a range of clients on major projects across London in all sectors of property development, and have developed specialisms in boundary and access disputes.
Outside of work, I live on the south coast at the foot of the natural beauty of the South Downs with view of the English Channel beyond, where I walk, cycle, and sail, with the odd trip to France for saucisson sec and yet another Breton shirt!
