NEC Supervisor Silverwood School

NEC Supervisor Silverwood School

We are delighted to have been appointed by Wiltshire Council as NEC Supervisor for the £30 million construction project to expand Silverwood School.

The project is taking place at Silverwood School’s Rowde Campus which is just outside the market town of Devizes in Wiltshire. The net zero carbon project is being delivered under NEC3 with Willmott Dixon having been appointed as Principal Contractor under the public sector SCF framework.

The expansion project will increase pupil numbers at Rowde Campus to 350 including early years, primary, secondary and post-16 SEND provision for the region. The vision for the project is to create a ‘State-of-the-Art Centre’ for Special Education Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Education with a community of small teaching clusters that will provide a range of specialist teaching spaces, therapeutic support and quiet dinning. Each cluster will be designed to offer plenty of space to move around while maximising natural daylight and ventilation.

The new facility will also include a hydrotherapy pool, outdoor learning provision, a new all-weather sport pitch, new playing fields, landscaping, and ecological enhancements resulting in a biodiversity net gain of 14%.

NEC Supervisor Project Timeline

Enabling works to prepare the site began in February 2022 with the start of the main construction works due to commence in March 2022 and complete in Autumn 2023. The project also includes the refurbishment and internal re-modelling to some of the existing school buildings on the Rowde campus some of which are Grade II listed.

Commenting on the planned scheme, Sean McKeown, Headteacher at Silverwood School said:

“This is great news for all pupils at Silverwood School – both those attending now and in the future. Our school community across all three campuses have been involved in shaping these plans and we all look forward to seeing plans on paper become excellent facilities which will make a real difference to all our pupils and help meet a real need for additional spaces for the future.”

We very much look forward to working with Wiltshire Council, Willmott Dixon and all the other project stakeholders over the coming months.
