Westferry Printworks

Daylight Sunlight Westferry Printworks

We provided advise on all aspects of daylight & sunlight for the Westferry Printworks redevelopment.

Situated on the water’s edge on the Isle of Dogs, the site occupies almost 15 acres.

Originally a timber and grain yard, the site fronts onto the Millwall Outer Dock, designed by Sir John Fuller and constructed by John Aird & Co in 1868.

The former printworks, built in the mid-1980s, had been operated by the Northern & Shell group until 2011 when the activities relocated to a media hub in Luton.

The plans for the site, drawn up by PLP Architecture will see the creation of 700 new residential properties (140 of which will be affordable housing). Also included in the mixed use development plans are a 1,200-space secondary school, a community centre, creche, sports and healthcare facilities.

There are also plans for commercial office space and a mix of independent retailers, restaurants and bars. The site has been designed to allow up to 75% of the land to be used for beautiful open spaces and waterside walks. This includes two new parks and a new south facing dockside waterfront promenade.

By creating over 1,500 new homes, the Westferry Printworks development will provide a significant contribution to London's housing targets.
