Abbey Place

Daylight & Sunlight Abbey Place

We provided Daylight & Sunlight advice to support the re-development of Abbey Place in Greenwich to provide 245 new apartments next to Abbey Wood Crossrail station.

London based developer HUB acquired the 0.4ha site in December 2015. The site aready had consent for a propsed hotel and apartment development. HUB appointed architects ShedKM to further develop proposals for the site.

We advised on the Daylight & Sunlight within the proposed scheme and the impact on neighbouring properties.

The first proposals for the site were submitted in September 2016 and featured a 29-storey scheme. Following two public consultations ShedKM submitted an amended planning application.

The amended plans included the proposal to reduce the height of the main block. The revised scheme received resolution to grant planning in October 2017 with the GLA confirming their approval in January 2018.

Dubbed Abbey Place, the project is the Liverpool and London-based architects’ first tower in the capital. At 21-storeys it remains the firm’s tallest building to date. Despite reducing the overall height of the project, the revised plan increased the total number of flats from 208 to 245. It also increased the total commercial floor space from 783m² to 882m².

The additional space has been achieved by making the western building much larger. This extra space came from an additional four floors which were added to the 10-storeys in the original scheme proposal.
