Crown Place, Portsmouth

We provided Party Wall advice for the development of Crown Place, Portsmouth

The development facilitated the construction of a 23 storey 576 bed space student tower building in the centre of Portsmouth adjacent to the main railway station.

Our scope was to provide various roles including CDM Principal Designer, Building Owner's Party Wall surveyor, BAPA agreements with Network Rail, crane over sailing licenses' and precautionary condition surveys of over 30 adjacent properties including a department store, banks, retail and residential properties.

First, the derelict site required asbestos removal and demolition of the existing building, followed by the design and build of a 23-storey tower, providing 576 beds together with associated external works, drainage and statutory services.

The site is located in the centre of Portsmouth and is adjacent to a number of other buildings and roads. This presented the team with various challenges including working within a restricted site area, asbestos removal, derelict building issues, adjacent occupied buildings and main roads.
