Geoff’s off-road adventure!
On Saturday 23 June, Geoff Adams attempted to cycle the whole of the South Downs Way from Winchester to Eastbourne in a single day. 100 miles and 10,000 feet of climbing, equivalent to climbing Scafell Pike and Snowdon and Ben Nevis in one day, the highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland.
Geoff managed 70 miles over 12 hours in the saddle – no punctures and nothing broke, including Geoff! He reached Ditchling Beacon with 30 miles and around 4.5 hours from the finish, but with no lights he would have reached Eastbourne after 11pm. The only thing that stopped him reaching the 100miles was time! Geoff had a great time, and now wants to finish the job – should he do it again this year while he is still fit or hope for the same good weather on the day next year??? He has unfinished business!
Geoff raised money for Arthritis Research UK – Anstey Horne’s chosen charity for 2018. It’s not too late to sponsor Geoff at JustGiving
