Planning Permission for Newcastle Riverside Apartments
Congratulations to developer Olympian Homes on gaining planning permission for a major residential development of 525 homes overlooking the River Tyne in Newcastle. We provided Daylight & Sunlight advice for the regeneration of this derelict site in Newcastle.
Plans for the scheme created by TODD Architects see the creation of two ‘U’ shaped blocks positioned to maximise views from the proposed apartments towards the River Tyne. Each block will have a private landscaped central courtyard as well as onsite residents’ gym, secure cycle and car parking. A new public footpath will connect Pottery Lane to the north of the site and to the Quayside to the south.

The 2.2 hectare derelict site, south-west of Newcastle city centre had been earmarked for development in the local plan as part of the Forth Yards area regeneration. It is hoped that development of this run down area could pave the way for up to 2,500 new homes and thousands of jobs.
